Rethinking Basic Assumptions for Modeling Parasitic Capacitance in Inductors

چکیده
This article rethinks the basic assumptions often used in analytically modeling parasitic capacitance inductors. These are classified two commonly-used physics-based analysis methods: lumped capacitor network method and energy conservation method. The lumped-capacitor is not proper solution for calculating equivalent inductors at first resonant frequency, but rather represents above last frequency. energy-conservation based shown to be more accurate a reasonable model Multiple case studies of verifying theory.

Self-Capacitance of Inductors
A new method for predicting the stray capacitance of inductors is presented. The method is based on an analytical approach and the physical structure of inductors. The inductor winding is partitioned into basic cells—many of which are identical. An expression for the equivalent capacitance of the basic cell is derived. Using this expression, the stray capacitance is found for both singleand mul...
متن کاملBenchmarks for Interconnect Parasitic Resistance and Capacitance
Interconnect parasitics are dominating circuit performance, signal integrity and reliability in IC design. Copper/low-k process effects are becoming increasingly important to accurately model interconnect parasitics. Even if the interconnect process profile is accurately represented, approximations in parasitic extraction could cause large errors. Typically, researchers and designers have been ...
متن کاملRethinking assumptions about cancer survivorship.
A growing body of research informed by theories and methods in the social sciences and humanities indicates that certain problematic messages are commonly embedded in popular and oncological representations of cancer. Becoming more aware of these underlying messages has the potential to improve the ways clinicians think about and manage cancer. (Note: A written response to this article appears ...

متن کاملModeling of Spiral Inductors
This section explains overview of the on-chip inductors. Demand for on-chip inductors has been increasing especially for CMOS RF circuits. An on-chip inductor is a key component because its performance directly affects the circuit performance and the chip cost. The onchip inductors have been used, for example, as a matching network component, as baluns, and as an inductive load. The requirement...
